Discerning the will of God
Updated: Sep 1
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:2
Let’s break this verse down into 3 parts. First part is a clear command which says to stop IMITATING the opinions, customs and ideals of this world we live in at the moment. As you have noticed already our faith values and the ideals of this culture around are entirely opposed.
St. Paul urges us to have a new attitude, a full 180 degrees turn around of our thinking. Whatever we have had in the past with regards to ideals, and whatever we may have copied from the worldly culture around us this is to be changed into the teachings of Jesus. This means we update our system in accordance to what the Word of God says.
Now the entire purpose of doing this is so that we can easily discern our life situations. We become empowered to know God’s will, to live a beautifully satisfying life in the eyes of our Lord Jesus.
MEDITATE/KNOW/IMAGINE CONSTANTLY - I will change my ideals to the teachings of Jesus
