The Chosen Name

And now, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus.

Luke 1:31

I remember the story that my mum said about how she named me. She told me that she had prayed when choosing my name and that it wasn’t a random selection. She asked God for a name from the bible and the name with a meaning ‘Yahweh is God’ was chosen. I was wondering when i read the above verse, if my parents who are human chose a name so carefully, how much more thoughtfully would have the heavenly father chosen Jesus’s name?

God chose a name that means salvation, i.e to deliver, to rescue! And God ordained that anyone who believes in this name and receives him will become a son or a daughter of God. Not just that God lifted up the name Jesus above every name, all spiritual powers will bow before the name Jesus.
