The Way to Prosper

“but their delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law they meditate day and night. They are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season, and their leaves do not wither. In all that they do, they prosper.”

Psalms 1:2-3

The ‘Law’ here refers to the precepts, teachings and instructions given in the Word of God (Jesus is the Word of God) that we meditate on daily. There is a delight/ a joy/ a thrill/ a passion that we receive when we continually meditate on the Word of God because it gives us an assurance of God’s promise for us.

With regards to the blessings mentioned here, I want to break this verse into 3 parts to help us meditate.

1. Yielding fruit in it’s season - Every tree has a season in which it blossoms and then one which it fades and another in which all leaves wither. For some trees if there is not enough nurture given then it wont have good fruit in it’s season. The verse says that because we meditate on the Word of God we produce the best fruit in the right seasons.

2. Leaves do not wither - Like i said above, trees have seasons in which the leaves wither. BUT not for you and me, if we meditate on the Word of God, we won't become tired, lack in zeal and become spiritually and physically dead because the power of the Word of God will work in us.

3. In ALL things, you prosper - In everything we do whether it be physical or spiritual we will prosper. I was wondering how this logically makes sense? Then this thought came to me. Since we are meditating on the Word, this results in renewing of our minds, so then we can discern the will of God in everything. If God is helping and directing every aspect of our lives and because our mind is renewed we can accurately hear him. So whenever God gives direction - we will ALWAYS PROSPER!
