Unfold His words

“The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119‬:‭130‬

I want to begin with focusing on a few words in this scripture. What do we ‘unfold’ usually? If we unfold something it means that there is a hidden element, something is a mystery or that something has been delivered as a package and needs to be opened. Likewise here scripture says the Words of our Lord comes in a package and it needs to be unfolded or opened. Each word God has spoken/speaks needs to unveiled and we must open it in order that we can receive the hidden gems in them.

What does ‘light’ mean in this context? Here the verse is not talking about natural light but the supernatural wisdom-revelation of God. Each time a Word of God is unfolded we receive revelation light from our Lord Jesus. And what is the purpose of this light? This Light of God shines into every dark corner in our hearts. It reveals everything that is hidden, that is not right in the eyes of our Lord, so that we can change our mindset and our ways to walk in the light.

To receive this light there is an eligibility criteria though - you must be a ‘simple’ hearted man or woman! Throughout the word of God it is evident that God favours the humble and he is near to the broken hearted. And this is the secret to receiving the revelation of Jesus’s words, because he prefers to teach the hearts that are like his, those without pride in their heart!
