Authority to Tread

See, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing will hurt you.

‭‭Luke‬ ‭10‬:‭19‬

The disciples had returned from their first mission journey with joyful reports of how they had done mighty exploits for God - healing the sick, casting demons out and proclaiming the good news of God. Jesus tells them that when they did these he saw satan fall from heaven! he was dethroned!

Then Jesus goes to say about the authority that he had already given his disciples.

Before we question if WE have STILL have the authority you will notice that prior to Jesus ascending to heaven he said the exact same thing - he gave us Christians authority over the devil and his armies.

The phrase ‘snakes and scorpions’ here refers to demons and satan’s every power and rule. We have been given Jesus’s authority as children of God to trample on the enemy. What does the word tread mean? The synonyms of this word includes to trample, to crush, to stamp, to compress, to walk over or to flatten. In other words Jesus has given us AUTHORITY to put satan under our feet so we can walk over crushing him.

I remember my first day as head boy in my high school. I was a little nervous approaching the students, but I noticed that when i would say something to be done the pupils would do it without questioning and quickly, i realised that it wasn’t because i was holding a gun or anything that they obeyed but simply because of the POSITION i held. NOW IN THE SPIRIT the demons already know of your position and your authority but it’s up to us to use it or not! Do you know who you are in Christ Jesus today? Selah

Amen!

MEDITATE/KNOW/IMAGINE CONSTANTLY - I have been given authority over all the powers of the enemy, nothing will harm me!
