What do you think about when you hear the word 'weapon'? In the old days spear or sword were used as weapons but nowadays when we hear weapon we think about guns, missiles and bombs. But what comes to mind when you hear the words divine weapons? Before we explore what our spiritual weapons are we need to know what we are fighting to bring down.
What are STRONGHOLDS? Imagine this with me, if you were to cross a country’s border you would at the least come across barricades, legion of soldiers and series of security checks. This area that is governed by those soldiers of that nation, with fortresses protecting them is what is called as a stronghold. Likewise the word of God says that there are strongholds that are in our minds!
Unfortunately we receive and acknowledge theories of this world and create imaginations like a fortress - a stronghold in the mind. Then these strongholds prevent us from aligning with the knowledge of God. This is why the verse says that everything that stand contrary to the knowledge of God needs to be brought down.
So how do we bring down these strongholds? The words of Jesus are like a mirror that we need to look into in order that we can see our true self and by seeing we can remove what doesn’t belong with us. So take every thought captive in obeying Jesus Christ, every imagination and every ideology in the mind we must compare with the words of Jesus and bring those down by the spiritual weapon of prayer and willingly changing the mindset in accordance to the word of God.
