The LORD of hosts

“The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭46‬:‭7 & 11‬

The verse here is repeated twice in the same psalm. There are few words that I would like to highlight to you that will help us to receive the essence of these verses.

The term ‘Lord of hosts’ is all over the bible. Have you ever wondered what it is referring to? The hosts is a reference to the armies of angels! And the Lord of hosts is king Jesus himself!

Whenever someone mentions about kings I imagine the old movies, where a man in purple or red stands surrounded by many soldiers in every corner and stands strong and powerful. But now if I was to compare I would probably think of the president or a prime minister. Wherever they go there are security guards on either side of them. In fact there are more behind the scenes surveilling everyone and everything with cameras, overhead snipers and security of every kind.

Having said that there is also someone else who we don’t notice much of but is equally protected - it’s the prime minister’s PA (personal assistant). The PA does the secretarial jobs and does all the admin work, but there is no one else who is protected heavily in the country like the prime minister’s PA.

Likewise just being in proximity to the person in power gives you access to their security/army. But we have something even better! We have become children of God through Jesus Christ. So since we are his and if we are in his proximity then his armies are also around us, this is why he is our refuge.

The word ‘Selah’ in layman terms mean to pause and think. In other words meditate on this truth that the Lord of angel armies - Jesus Christ is with us!

Therefore armies of angels surround us to guide, protect and deliver us all the time!

Amen!

MEDITATE/KNOW/IMAGINE CONSTANTLY - The Lord of hosts is with me!
