The Word of Command

The centurion answered, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; but only speak the word, and my servant will be healed.”

Matthew 8:8

The above words were the statement that a centurion said to Jesus. What a different thing to say and what an odd behaviour from the centurion, right?

I haven’t seen anyone else say in the bible to Jesus please don’t come to my house even though my servant is sick. But instead he says just speak the word and it will be enough.

I bet you that the centurion knew something all of Jesus’s disciples and we christians do not know, he knew the power of authority. The centurion being an officer in the army knew how authority functions, he recognised possessing authority was higher than having power. It’s like saying power is like the gun a soldier carries but the position as the officer is the authority. And the man knew that when a word is spoken it will be done, because of the position he held every soldier will obey him. Likewise seeing Jesus he recognised that Jesus is highest authority, and the moment he speaks a word the angels harken to his voice and it is a done deal! Here when it says only speak the word, it is referring to only speak a COMMAND and the thing will be established.

My friends, THE WORD that comes out of the mouth of Jesus never returns void, it produces the fruit and intention that it is released for. One command from the Lord’s mouth is all we need to fix our lives. Today do we recognise Jesus as the highest authority, then if so let us listen to his voice.

Amen!

MEDITATE/KNOW/IMAGINE CONSTANTLY - I will intently listen to the voice of Jesus
