What is your MEDITATION?

“This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to act in accordance with all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall be successful.”

‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1‬:‭8‬

Whenever I would hear the word ‘meditation’ I used to imagine about a monk in the mountains or the fantasy stories in mythology where a man would sit in silence and be like a statue for years. But when the bible mentions meditation it is describing something else entirely. The Truth is that every single one of us already meditate! To MEDITATE means to contemplate, to reflect, to imagine, to think over and over again about a particular topic/thing/situation. Day to day there are always issues of life that we focus on constantly, it may be worry, gossip, life problems, lust, love, money, future, plans - whatever you continually think about BECOMES your meditation!

Eastern meditation encourages people to empty their mind or to clear the mind but Christian meditation says to fill your mind with the Word of God. Would you rather have an empty mind where whatever worldly idea is welcome to replace your thoughts or do you want Holy Spirit's thoughts in your mind instead?

God gives us a way to become prosperous in life, He gives us the way to become successful - by Meditation of the Word of God. We have addressed the fact that we already mediate, meditation on the Word of God is in fact easier than we imagine.

Practically there are many ways we can meditate on the Word of God. Perhaps you can start your day with reading the Word of God, then have a verse or testimony from the bible in your mind for the day. As the day goes by MUTTER/SAY to yourself the particular verse (this way the Word of God will always be in your mouth), contemplate/think about what it means, picture yourself in that situation, imagine the essence of the promise of the verse into your life and receive it into your spirit. By constantly thinking about the Word of God our mind becomes renewed and God says that by doing this even subconsciously we will practice the Word of God and thereby automatically attract the blessings and prosperity attached to it!

Amen!

MEDITATE/KNOW/IMAGINE CONSTANTLY - I will meditate on the precepts of the Lord everyday!
